The History of Rancho Mañana
As far back as it can be recalled, the land on which Rancho Mañana stands upon belonged to the Native American tribe, the Hohokam. Their lingering and proud presence is still felt through the artifacts and petroglyphs they left behind.
In the mid 1800’s the US Cavalry made their impression here, as they traveled the route between Fort Whipple and Fort McDowell during the Civil War. A supply depot for the Cavalry, the town of Cave Creek gradually settled and took root amidst early miners and cowboys in the 1860’s.
The 1920’s ushered in the “dude” ranch and attracted a host of visitors seeking warmth and adventure.
In 1943 Romy Loudermilk, “the singing cowboy, teamed up with Ted and China Loring and named the 750 acre property they owned, “Rancho Mañana” which translated from Spanish means ranch of tomorrow. In no time, the ranch became extremely popular. People from all over the world came to Rancho Mañana including European royalty and Hollywood movie stars.
Memories were etched over campfires and cookouts until the ranch was sold in 1955.
Eventually, sports figure, Joe Gargiola bought the property. A short while later, Rancho Mañana Golf Club made its debut.
Today, Rancho Mañana features a full service golf resort, spa and restaurant.
It offers vacation ownership, with various plans, for guests traveling from all over the world or from the local community.
The legend lives on.
